Binnenhospital, or hospital (section) in – meaning within the walls of the city – built in 1641 and became the first hospital in Batavia. This hospital last more than 160 years later, 1808, when the hospital was finally closed. Replacement hospital, outside the city walls, was built in 1724.

The former hospital building was eventually used as De Javasche Bank (DJB) in 1828. Earlier Dutch government offered a house in Molenvliet – Jalan Gajah Mada – courtesy of Reinier de Klerk that was built in 1760 to the DJB. DJB Party refused.

The reason, its location is too far from the center of trade since the century house Reinier de Klerk is a vacation home that far away from the hustle and bustle of the city of Batavia trade.
